“One life on this earth is all that we get, whether it is enough or not enough, and the obvious conclusion would seem to be that at the very least we are fools if we do not live it as fully and bravely and beautifully as we can” – Frederick Buechner
Being born and raised in South Africa, Africa is in my blood – I love the smell, the feel and the sounds of the African bush. It makes me come alive! There is nothing more soul-satisfying than being out in the African wild, away from civilization and close to nature.
I have also travelled to many other parts of the world and love to get lost in the richness of the history, culture and natural beauty of foreign countries.
I would like to share my experiences with others and I hope that you will find the photographs on this site inspiring!
“A photograph is a glimpse of the past, a moment in time never to be repeated. And photography the art of capturing that moment in a way that will evoke memories for years to come. Memories of beautiful places visited, wonderful people encountered, and time spent with good friends”
– Cobus Coetzee, 2012
The name was inspired by the following lines from one of my favourite songs:
“… I’m not afraid to die
I’m not afraid to live
And when I’m flat on my back
I hope to feel like I did …”
The title of the song is ‘Kite’ by U2 ……. who incidentally is also my favourite rock band!
These few lines not only became my life-motto but also my motivation to travel. I want to see as many different places as possible, experience new things and meet interesting people. Good health and the privilege to travel are gifts that need to be treasured and appreciated. I want to live life to the full and I hope that when I come to the end of my earthly journey, I will feel that I have truly lived and that I have made a difference in the live’s of the people I got to know.
